Taking some time to indulge in rest and curiosity

After five years, Friday was my last day at Medium. I’m going to take a break and let my mind wander for a bit. I don’t think I’ve taken a break much longer than two weeks since 2009. I’m looking forward to this. I appreciate all I’ve learned from my teammates over the years at Medium. I’m proud of our work — in editorial tools, recommendations, reader experience, and writer initiatives like Creators Hub.

What’s next for me? I’m looking forward to indulging in curiosity a bit. I’ve dreamed of doing a personal sabbatical for years. I’ll take time to read whatever, write, and make weird things that come to mind. I’ve been exploring web3, media, and creative tools. There’s a lot of interesting things happening in that space that remind me of what interactive art and JS felt like for me in the early 2010’s — the experimentation, creativity, and community.

But first, I’ll rest and spend some time with my family on the east coast. I’ve missed them tons during the pandemic.

✨If you’re in the bay area and have worked at Medium, I’m organizing a little east bay outside gathering for Medians and alumni this Saturday (9/18). Please let me know if you’re interested!✨
